Gasquet wins Mumbai Open by defeating Rochus 6-3, 6-4
Richard Gasquet of France won the Mumbai Open on Sunday, beating Olivier Rochus of Belgium 6-3, 6-4.
"It was my first (title) on outdoor hardcourts," said the 14th-ranked Gasquet, who reached the semifinals at Wimbledon. "(It) shows I can play on any surface."
The 21-year-old won a battle of baseline play in humid weather.
Rochus, ranked 66th, started well in the second set and exchanged two service breaks to level the score at 3-3, but was broken again in the seventh game by Gasquet.
"It was a tough match, he has a wonderful backhand but I was playing great," Gasquet said.
