Jankovic limbers up for last chance with Henin in Madrid

Justine Henin and fatigue are the two obstacles Jelena Jankovic has to overcome if she is to crown an impressive season with victory at the end-of-season WTA Championships in Madrid next week.

The 22-year-old Serbian was considering quitting at the beginning of the year, but has gone on to register a 72-22 win-loss ratio, becoming the player to record the most victories in a season since Kim Clijsters in 2003.
She has won four titles, finished runner-up in four more tournaments and risen to a career-high ranking of world number three.

"I worked very hard in the off-season last year and I really gave my all to be ready for the whole year and to be at my best. Also being physically fit all the time has helped a lot too," Jankovic told a new conference in Madrid.

"It's a very long season, I've played a lot and of course I am very tired. This is the last tournament of the year and it is very important. I am really motivated to do well.

"I tried to take a mini break in Miami before coming here, doing as little as possible but I am glad to be here and am determined to finish the year in the best possible way."

Jankovic is making her first appearance at the event, and has been handed a tough draw being grouped with Serena Williams , Anna Chakvetadze , and world number one Henin.
