Tursunov says he was offered bribes multiple times
Russian tennis player Dmitry Tursunov said he was approached several times with offers of bribes to fix matches, a newspaper reported Friday.
"I was approached in Madrid in the middle of the season last year, and at some other tournament," Tursunov told the daily Izvestia.
The 29th-ranked Tursunov, who played on the Russian team that beat Germany in the Davis Cup semifinals last weekend, refused to say how much he was offered or give more details.
Another Russian, Nikolay Davydenko , is under scrutiny after a British online gambling company tracked bettors putting 10 times the usual amount of money on a match he played in August. Davydenko has denied any involvement in gambling.
On Thursday, two Belgian players said they had been approached to take bribes to lose matches. One player said one of the bribes was for a match at Wimbledon in 2005.
